Splitsvilla X6’s Akanksha Chaudhary recalls financial struggles and not getting work before becoming famous; says, ‘I didn’t even have Rs 50’
Splitsvilla X6 has ended, with Kushal Tanwar aka Gullu and Kaira Anu lifting the reality show’s trophy. One of the contestants who gained major popularity is Akanksha Chaudhary. She made headlines amid controversies involving fellow contestants Ruru Thakur and Yogesh Rawat. Recently, she appeared on a podcast with Filmy Gyan, where she opened up about her struggling days, personal life, and much more.
While opening up about not having work for several months, she said, “There was a gap in my modelling work. In Jaipur, if there’s even a small break, models get replaced. I had a break of about a month, and during that time, I lost my work. When I returned, I wasn’t getting any assignments through agencies, nor was I getting any personal projects. There was a time when my bank account practically had nothing in it.”
She further shared, “My parents weren’t in a position to help much either. My father is getting older now. We have a medical shop, but my brothers take care of most of the household expenses. My mother is a housewife. I would occasionally ask my father for Rs 2,000 to manage my monthly expenses and travel.”
“Even when I attended parties fully dressed up, I would travel there on a bike because it cost only around Rs 50. My friends and I would ask the rider to drop us a little away from the venue so that nobody would know we had arrived that way. That was the situation I was in. There was a point before Splitsvilla when I didn’t even have Rs 50 left. It cost Rs 50 to travel from my house to my best friend’s house, and I didn’t have that much money. I had already borrowed money from my father that month, and I knew I couldn’t ask him for more because he had his own expenses, vehicle instalments, and household responsibilities,” Akanksha mentioned.
Opening up about her struggles, the reality show star said, “If I don’t talk about these struggles, people won’t know about them. But if I do talk about them, people will say I’m looking for sympathy. That’s why I never spoke about it publicly. Whether I have money today or not, I have one principle: after going through such difficult financial times, I will never spend even one rupee to spread hate against someone, and I will never spend even one rupee to make people love me. I would rather spend that money on my parents, my home, myself, and my friends. Those are the things that truly matter to me.”
