Shivani Gosain on her character in Rangbaazi Dilon Ki: As an actor, I deeply relate to Pushpa's strength
Shivangi Gosain is currently seen as a sharp-minded, shrewd woman named Pushpa Pandey in the new show Rangbaazi Dilon Ki. Though she was not always like this, time and circumstances forced her to change. Her husband made some poor decisions and turned their luxurious life into a struggle. She then decided to take the charge and was able to maintain her family's reputation and dignity. But the family is in debt, everything they have is borrowed, and the clock is ticking as they have only a few days left to pay off the loans. Pushpa plans to get her son married and clear her debts with the money from the dowry and also help him build a startup. The actress shared that she relates to her character's strength and grit.
She said, "As an actor, the one thing I deeply relate to is Pushpa's strength. She never gives up and faces life head-on. Personally, I am very conscious about not doing anything wrong or taking shortcuts, even when I feel I have no other option. I believe strongly in karma. I do my part and leave the rest to God. Pushpa, however, follows the path of saam, daam, dand, bhed."
"She is not negative or evil, but when pushed into extreme circumstances, she chooses an unethical route to save her family and secure their future. She gets her son married for money, fully intending to return it once the business stabilizes. She is deeply religious, she performs puja, reads the Ramayana, and believes in God and yet takes morally complex decisions. She has complete authority in her house and acts on what she believes is right for her family," she added.
But playing this character did not come easy. Shivani revealed, "To understand Pushpa’s mindset, mannerisms, and reactions, I attended multiple readings and workshops with our show’s setup director and writer. It took me a few days to truly get into her skin."
She mentioned that the audience is loving her character and said, "The response to Pushpa has been extremely positive."
"Audiences are loving her aura, her style, her commanding presence, and the way she handles life’s challenges with intelligence and authority, while still being fiercely protective of her family," Shivani ended.
