Actor Shehzad Shaikh is currently soaking in the festive spirit of Baisakhi while shooting in Chandigarh, and he can’t stop raving about the vibrant cultural experience.
Sharing his excitement, Shehzad said, "The atmosphere in the city during Baisakhi is nothing short of mesmerizing. From bustling markets to lively residential areas, everything is drenched in festive colours, traditional Punjabi attire, music, and delicious food, symbolising new beginnings."
Speaking about the grand celebrations in Punjab, he added, "The festival is marked with immense fervour. Gurudwaras host special prayers and events, while traditional dance forms like bhangra and gidda bring unmatched energy to the celebrations. Baisakhi fairs further add to the charm, making it a truly immersive cultural experience."
Food, of course, remains a highlight of the festival. Shehzad shared his delight in enjoying authentic Punjabi dishes like meethe chawal (sweet yellow rice), kadhi pakora, lassi, and sarson ka saag. He especially appreciated the langar served at Gurudwaras, calling it both delicious and heartwarming.
“This Baisakhi will surely be memorable,” he said, adding that as an actor, he feels fortunate to explore different cultures and traditions through his work.
What makes this experience even more special for him is that it’s his first visit to Punjab. "I have fallen in love with the place, its people, and their warmth and hospitality. I hope the festival brings prosperity and strengthens the spirit of brotherhood."
Apart from his current project, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, Shehzad is known for his work in popular shows like Mehndi Wala Ghar, Zyada Mat Udd, Sindoor Ki Keemat, and Shaadi Sharte Lagu, among others.
