Rushal Parakh: Singing became my release, my therapy, my truth
From television dramas to quiet jam sessions at home, actor Rushal Parakh has worn many hats, but it is singing that he calls his “truth”. Known for shows like Bekaboo, Parineetii, Tu Aashiqui and Kavach... Kaali Shaktiyon Se, the actor opens up about his deep connection with music and his evolving acting journey.
Referring to the release date of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rockstar on November 11, 2011, Rushal says, “11.11.11 wasn’t just a release date; it was my rebirth. That film lit a fire I didn’t know I had, and the rockstar inside me woke up that day. Since then, singing became my release, my therapy, my truth. I don’t chase stages. I sing for the soul whenever it calls.”
Despite his passion for music, the actor has no plans to pursue it professionally. He says, “Honestly, no. I never sang to build a career out of it. It’s personal, raw and meant for moments, not spotlights. I sing for myself when words fall short, and sometimes for the people closest to me. Keeping it intimate keeps it real, and that’s how I love it.”
Interestingly, acting too was not part of a larger plan for Rushal. The actor admits his entry into showbiz happened unexpectedly and a brief appearance changed the course of his career. He says, “It wasn’t planned; it found me. One small cameo in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya changed everything. Watching myself on screen, something clicked. I saw potential, fire, a storyteller waiting to break out. That moment told me I can do this, and I can do it professionally.”
While he has been away from daily soaps lately, Rushal says he remains fully invested in acting and is now focusing on exploring newer formats. He shares, “I’m still very much active, just not where you’d expect. TV took a backseat while I shifted focus to web and films. It’s been quiet, not absent. I chose to grow, wait for the right scripts and challenge myself in new spaces. The hustle never stopped; it evolved.”
Having also featured in episodic shows and television projects over the years, Rushal is currently balancing both worlds, letting music remain a personal refuge while continuing to pursue acting with renewed focus.
