Rubina Dilaik recalls weight loss journey and struggles around stress eating; says, ‘I would feel so hungry that I couldn’t sleep’
Rubina Dilaik, who’s loved and known for her work on the small screen as well as reality shows, recently recalled her weight loss journey and how she incorporated a healthy lifestyle. The actress shared a video on her YouTube channel highlighting the importance of healthy eating and taking care of the body.
She shared how her relationship with food has changed over time and the challenges she has overcome. Rubina shared that she used to eat out of stress and would feel guilty after eating junk, and that was affecting her mentally.
The actress said, “I thought that if I skipped dinner and ate directly the next day at breakfast, it would help me lose weight faster. But it didn’t work like that. At night, I would feel so hungry that I couldn’t sleep. I would wake up and keep wondering what I could eat and what I couldn’t. Sometimes my sleep wasn’t complete, my mind kept overthinking, and I would wake up exhausted in the morning.”
Rubina further said, “The body also has a natural tendency to hold back in such situations. In fact, it becomes counterproductive. So don’t skip your meals, just have the right food at the right time. Even something like fruit sugar can be a better, lighter option when needed. I’ve always said that my relationship with food has never been perfect. Sometimes it’s stress eating, sometimes guilt, and sometimes it’s like, ‘It’s cheat day, so let me go all out.’ Something like that.”
Later, she said, “But one day I realized that I’m not just feeding my body, I’m feeding my energy. When I eat simple home-cooked food, I feel lighter, calmer, and more stable. And when I eat random processed or oily food, not only does my body feel heavy, but my mind becomes foggy too. I feel dull. The whole day feels slow and sluggish.”
Rubina also shared how food does not just affect a person’s weight but also their mood. She said, “No one really tells you that food doesn’t just affect your weight, it also affects your mood, patience, and even your reactions. For me, holistic living means awareness, what I’m eating, how I’m eating, and in what state I’m eating. Because even if you’re eating healthy food but doing it in stress or while scrolling on your phone, your body doesn’t absorb it properly. I made one small change, I started eating slowly. Just that. But what I observed was better attention, less bloating, and the level of satisfaction? Mind-blowing.”
