He may be Ekta's (Kapoor) blue-eyed boy today, but to be that, director Ravindra Gautam who hails from the City of Nawabs, wasn't an easy task.
"I always wanted to be an actor and for this I had also joined Yayavar Rang Mandal n Lucknow while I was studying in Lucknow University. I wanted to be King Khan of Bollywood but never knew how hard I would have to struggle to reach that position," says Ravindra who is presently riding high with the success of his serial, "Bade Achhe Lagte Hai", adding, "Being from a middle class family, I had to sit for the bank's enterance exam, which is the dream of every middle class family, even today and unfortuantely I had cleared it also.

For two and a half years I was posted in Behraich, when I finally decided to quit one day." But quitting a government job that too being married, was the most difficult decision of Ravindra's life. "People called me a mad man to have quit a banker's job that too being married. But I wanted to be an actor and with my wife being my side, always, I didn't care about what they whole world had to say," smiles this St Fransican.
