Rashami Desai: I feel my journey has shaped me in a way that I value experimentation even more now
For Rashami Desai, the shift into theatre has not been tentative—it has been a full immersion into a new creative space. Moving beyond the familiarity of television, she has embraced the demands of live performance with a willingness to adapt, particularly while working in a language and format outside her earlier comfort zone.
Her transition into theatre has required both preparation and flexibility. “It pushes you as an actor to step out of your comfort zone, and I really enjoy that process of discovering new shades within myself,” she says, describing the shift as one that has expanded her approach to performance.
Taking her work to international audiences has added another dimension to the experience. Rather than viewing it through the lens of scale, Desai describes it as an extension of connection. “Performing internationally has been overwhelming in the best way possible. The love you receive from audiences across borders makes you realize how deeply art connects us all, no matter where we come from.”
Reflecting on her career trajectory, Desai does not dwell on missed opportunities or delayed experimentation. Instead, she situates her current choices within the context of growth. “Of course, sometimes you do wonder ‘what if,’ but I feel my journey has shaped me in a way that I value experimentation even more now. The experiences I’ve had earlier have given me the strength and clarity to take bolder choices today.”
