Raju Srivastava passes away, Live Updates: Comedian's wife Shikha breaks down at the funeral; son Ayushmaan and others bid emotional farewell
Popular comedian Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday (September 21) after 41 days of hospitalisation. The 58-year-old comedian had suffered a heart attack on August 10 while working out at a gym in Delhi. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi and underwent angioplasty. Since then, he was on ventilator and never gained consciousness. PM Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders mourned the loss of the comedy king. His funeral will take place at Nigambodh ghat today (September 22). His mortal remains were taken out of AIIMS to his home in Delhi. A familiar face in the entertainment industry since the 1980s, the comedian tasted unparalleled success after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge" (2005).Raju Srivastava had also featured in Hindi films such as "Maine Pyar Kiya", "Baazigar", the remake of "Bombay to Goa" and "Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya". He was the chairperson of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.

The actor says that Raju Srivastava was extremely particular about his fitness and diet. He recalls, “Every morning, he would walk for an hour and eat an egg with garlic added to it. The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to comedian Raju Srivastava and observed a two-minute silence on his death. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid his tributes to Srivastava through a tweet. "Very sad to hear about the passing away of Shri Raju Shrivastava ji, who entertained everyone throughout his life with his innovative art skills."
