Reality shows have a huge following and viewership for the entertainment that they provide to the audience. With the performances, jokes and high entertainment quotient, they have become a huge part of telly business. However, there have been times when reality shows and its hosts/ judges have got caught in controversies over their actions or remarks. Recently, Raghav Juyal was slammed for his ‘racist’ remark on Dance Deewane 3. There have been a few instances earlier too. Check out:

Raghav Juyal

Dance Deewane host Raghav Juyal was accused of ‘racism’. The popular dancer and host of the TV industry was called out for introducing a North East contestant while speaking gibberish, seemingly to mock Mandarin, the language spoken by the Chinese people. A video clip with this specific scene has gone viral from the dance reality show and Raghav is facing a severe backlash for the same. Moreover, Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has also slammed him over his demeaning remark for the young contestant from Assam. On November 15, Raghav issued a clarification in a video while explaining his statement. He shared that he didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s sentiments and apologised too. “I have my family in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. I have friends in Nagaland with whom I've grown up in boarding school. I'm someone who tries to show things politically correct and who takes a stand on injustice and racism. Instead, I often get trolled whenever I take a stand for a religion, caste, culture or creed,” he stated in a part of the video.

Aditya Narayan

Indian Idol 12’s host Aditya Narayan got mired in a huge controversy when he made an inappropriate remark about the residents of Alibaug. Following this statement, the Raj Thackrey led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) demanded an apology from the makers. Moreover, the party had also warned the show and channel of action against them if they failed to issue an apology on national television. Later, Aditya issued a video apology for the same on social media. He had then stated, “With a humble heart and folded hands I want to apologise to the people of Alibaug and everyone who has been hurt by my sentence on a recent episode of Indian Idol that I’m currently hosting. The intention was never to hurt anyone. I have immense love and respect for Alibaug. My own sentiments are connected with the place, it's people and this soil.”

Kapil Sharma

The Kapil Sharma Show host Kapil has had a tough time dealing with controversies over time. It was during an episode in March 2020 that Kapil cracked a joke and took the name of a Kayasth deity, which offended the members of the community. The members of the community demanded an apology and called for boycotting the show. Following this, Kapil had to issue a public apology too.

Neha Dhupia

Roadies Revolutions’ mentor Neha Dhupia was heavily trolled because of her statement on the show. She slammed a contestant for hitting his girlfriend when he found out that she was cheating on him. Neha stated that he in no capacity had any right to slap her, and it was ‘her choice’. The trolling went on for quite a while and several memes were made on her too. Later, she took to social media and clarified that her statement was misinterpreted.

Amitabh Bachchan

Kaun Banega Crorepati host and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan also got mired in a huge controversy because of a question asked in the quiz show. A question based on Manusmriti made many viewers question the makers. An FIR was filed against the host and makers for 'hurting Hindu sentiments' and promoting 'leftists propaganda'.

Papon

Singer Papon, who judged The Voice India Kids, had to step down when he was charged with kissing a minor contestant during the Holi celebration live video. The contestant’s father denied the accusations levied against the singer and called him a ‘father figure’ to her. But Papon was hugely condemned for the same. He apologised, called it an accident and blamed the faulty camera angle to be behind the incident.

Karan Kundrra

Former Roadies mentor Karan Kundrra was criticised when he slapped a contestant on the reality show. The actor got aggressive with the contestant for raising a hand at his sister. Karan also called him ‘Samaaj ka keeda’. This didn’t go well with the makers as well as the fellow judges. Soon, he quit the show and was replaced by Nikhil Chinappa.
