Small screen actors Chahatt Khanna Mirza, Rishina Kandhari, Vipul Roy, Subuhi Joshi, Namish Taneja and Preeti Chaudhary tell us about the inspiration behind their tattoos...Chahatt Khanna Mirza Number of tattoos: One Design: Husband's name in Arabic English font.
"I got myself inked on Farhan's (Mirza) birthday (April 26).
The tattoo is his name in Arabic English font, since he is a mix of Mughal and Pathan. Arabic language holds high prestige in Islam.
During shoot, I have to wear full sleeves to cover it."

"Like all love stories don't have a happy ending, not all tattoos have a meaning," says the actor, adding, “I was in Ko Samui on a vacation. A friend of mine decided to get a tattoo at 3 am while we were strolling down the street. The tattoo artiste suggested me that I get inked, too. My immediate reaction was that I can't stand tattoo on my body. But, my friend convinced me and we locked a Feng Shui sign for prosperity. While the artiste was at it, I kept suggesting him changes like add two spots on top, make it smaller and even topped in between. I paid and walked out. This was back then and till date I am still trying to find what I am carrying on my hand. My friends mistake it for girlfriend's initials or some Chinese sign and other wild and funny things."
Namish Taneja Number of tattoos: One Design: Panther
"Around three years ago, I got a panther inked on my forearm. There was no thought behind it," he says. While many associate tattoos with luck, the actor has a different story to tell us. "I was shortlisted for a film but was dropped, because the tattoo didn't go with my character."
"It could have hidden by the makeup, but things fell through." However, it worked in his favour on the small screen. "The tattoo suited my character in telly soap
Ekk Nayi Pehchaan. Even in my current show, I play a rich brat and the tattoo suits the role perfectly," he adds.
Rishina Kandhari Number of tattoos: Two Design: The figure of a phoenix and a Guru Nanak quote.
"I got the phoenix inked on my back in 2005. It stands for purity, renewal, strength, health and the present moment in time. Back then, it was more an act of rebellion. The only problem was, I had no idea what I wanted. The tattoo artist asked me to close my eyes and touch a design. He said I should let the tattoo pick me rather than the other way round." Rishina got her second tattoo last year. It is a Guru Nanak quote on 'Virtuous Conduct'.
Subhi Joshi Number of tattoos: Two Design: A heart with horns and heartbeats
"Both my tattoos are dedicated to my mother (Meenu Joshi), because she means the world to me. The first tattoo that I got on my arm two years ago says, 'Mumma's li'l bad girl', with a heart with horns on it. The second one is on my back and it reads, 'With every heartbeat, I love you mommy'. The word heartbeat is represented by a beating heart."
Preeti Chaudhary Number of tattoos: One Design: Beautiful
"I got inked last week and my tattoo reads 'Beautiful'. It's still fresh n hurts a bit.The idea was to keep everything beautiful around me. That's how I feel and want to feel for the rest of my life even if that means being on my own."
