The couple started dating a few years back and were also seen together on the reality show
Power Couple
.
After enjoying a lot of time together, Ashmit decided to go down on his knees to ask Maheck for marriage.

The two were on a vacation to Europe and also met Maheck's family in Norway.
Initially Ashmit wanted to propose Maheck in Paris but things couldn't work out and so he decided Marbella where they were enjoying dinner at a cozy restaurant.
He told Bombay Times in an interview: "I never told Maheck that I was carrying a ring with me. We were supposed to meet her family in Norway and I wanted to propose to her in Paris, the city of love, but it did not happen that way. We were at a cozy restaurant in Marbella (Spain), which had a fantastic view, and I decided to propose."
While Ashmit hasn't been seen on TV ever since Power Couple, Maheck was seen on the show
