Nilu Kohli: Guru Nanak ji believed in sabr and shukr and that's what I have learnt from his teachings
Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated on November 15, and actress Nilu Kohli talks about his teachings on this day and shares how she celebrates it.
Nilu says, "Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations are very simple for us. I visit Gurudwara during the day then there is langar, and I also go for that. If I am not shooting, I go to Gurudwara twice a day. His birth time is 1:20 am, so until then, we worship him and play kirtans in the Gurudwara. So there are no special celebrations at home, but everything happens at the temple and we as a family go there. This is a ritual that I have been following as a child and now my children also follow it."
She further adds, "This is the time when we actually get into community living and we meet each other on this day. Guru Nanak ji was a very simple man, he believed in sabr and shukr (Patience and Thankfulness). This is what we too have learnt from him and I try to apply it in my everyday life. He has also taught that we should always help others. I feel that over the years our values should stay the same and we shouldn't forget them."
The actress was last seen in the TV show Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar and is currently shooting for a web show.
