Nehalaxmi Iyer on reuniting with Surbhi Chandna for Ishk Dum aur Idli Rasam: It already feels like one big happy set
Nehalaxmi Iyer has reunited with her Ishqbaaaz co-actor Surbhi Chandna, but this time for the latter’s production venture with her husband Karan Sharma, titled Ishk Dum aur Idli Rasam. Nehalaxmi shared a post on Instagram yesterday, announcing the collaboration.
Last seen in Qubool Hai 2.0 in 2021, Nehalaxmi, who is returning after a five-year gap, shares, “Getting back on set with Ishk Dum aur Idli Rasam feels like a full-heart moment. I’m beyond excited to collaborate with my dear friends Surbhi and Karan. It already feels like one big happy set. Being a part of Balaji Telefilms is a dream ticked off my list! And the best part? My character is so me. It’s dramatic, fun, and full of life, and I’m having the best time bringing her alive.”
The show, set against the backdrop of a heritage South Indian restaurant, Ishk Dum aur Idli Rasam, tells a story where food becomes narrative, memory becomes emotion, and tradition becomes conflict. In a refreshing narrative choice, food is not merely aesthetic but becomes a storytelling device representing love, loss, and identity. Shiny Doshi and Abhishek Kumar play the lead couple in the show.
On the personal front, Nehalaxmi Iyer tied the knot with Rudraysh Joshii, an MBA graduate, on February 22, 2023. The two met at a Zumba class a few years ago, and their friendship eventually blossomed into love. In an exclusive interview with us months before the wedding, she had shared, “There’s been no looking back since (smiles). After our families met and gave us their blessings, we made our relationship Instagram official. The roka ceremony took place in August. We had a surprise proposal planned. Although I wasn’t supposed to know about it, I had an idea as we needed our parents’ approval. We also had a small engagement ceremony on the same day.”
