Mridula Oberoi: This year's birthday made me pause from work and be with my loved ones
Actress Mridula Oberoi, who has been part of shows such as Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Kumkum Bhagya, Appnapan – Badalte Rishton Ka Bandhan and Baghin, as well as films like Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Love Aaj Kal 2 and Sukhee, is celebrating her birthday with family this year — something she says feels rare and grounding.
Reflecting on the moment, the actress shares, “This year's birthday made me pause from work and be with my loved ones. It’s been eight years since I moved to Mumbai. I honestly can’t remember the last time I celebrated my birthday surrounded by my whole family but this time all of us are together.”
She adds that distance has never weakened their bond. “We share a connection that doesn’t need constant presence. Whenever life gives us a moment, we hold it close. We laugh over old memories, relive stories, and allow ourselves to just be. Everyone is busy with demanding lives, but the bond remains untouched.”
Being home toward the end of the year has felt meaningful for her. “As this year comes to a close, it feels like a quiet blessing. Being home for my youngest cousin’s engagement felt like a gentle reminder that no matter where life takes me, my family is always there.”
This birthday holds added significance as her son, Tuhinanshu, is with her. “He lives in New Zealand, so having him here makes everything feel deeper and more complete. His presence softens everything. This birthday doesn’t need noise or celebration. It already feels full. Family is strength and belonging, and I’m grateful to have both.”
