#MeToo: Alok Nath gets expelled from CINTAA
Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) has expelled Alok Nath in lieu of the charges levied against him, during the #MeToo movement, by TV producer Vinta Nanda and some of his former co-stars, Sandhya Mridul and Navneet Nishan.
CINTAA has now issued a statement on their official Twitter account, stating they have expelled the actor from the association, thereby, severing ties from him. This also means that the actor’s career is in jeopardy now.
Their statement read, “In view of the various allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Mr. Alok Nath, after due diligence and consideration, the Exec. Committee of #cintaa has decided to expel him from the Association. @sushant_says @renukashahane @FIA_actors @sagaftra @RichaChadha.”
Vinta replied to their tweet and wrote, “salute the @CintaaOfficial EC, @sushant_says, @amitbehl1, others who have sent a strong message to the community that we’re governed by a system which cannot be circumvented. It required conviction and courage, the EC has proved that they have mettle.
This action by CINTAA comes after Alok Nath skipped the meeting organised by the body between the accused and accuser.
As part of the #MeToo campaign, Vinta Nanda, writer and producer of popular TV show Tara, accused Alok Nath of rape and sexual harassment. It took her 20 long years to finally come out about it in public. In her long post, she referred to Alok Nath as ’sanskari babuji’. Later, Vinta’s accusations were backed by several other actresses who have worked with the actor in the past.
