Lock Upp fame Karanvir Bohra's controversies: Tiff with Salman Khan on Bigg Boss, allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 1.55 cr and more

Karanvir Bohra has had a career in showbiz spanning several decades. Besides his numerous achievements in the industry, the actor, who has done popular shows like Just Mohabbat, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Naagin and Qubool Hai among others, has also had his share of controversies.

Karanvir Bohra is one of the 6 people who have allegedly cheated a 40-year-old woman of Rs. 1.99 crores. News agency ANI tweeted, "Maharashtra | Case registered against 6 people including actor Manoj Bohra alias Karanvir Bohra for allegedly cheating a 40-year-old woman of Rs 1.99 crores after promising to return it at 2.5% interest; woman claimed that only an amount of over Rs 1cr was returned." The case was filed at Oshiwara police station by the woman. A follow-up tweet by the agency read, "The woman also claimed that when she asked for the amount, Bohra & his wife Tajinder Sidhu did not respond properly & threatened to shoot her. Karanvir Bohra has done 10 reality shows in his career and has not won even a single of them. This was brought up in the show Lock Upp where he was seen as a contestant. The actor was termed a 'loser' for it, something he didn't take very well. He countered it by saying, " Nobody is appreciative of the fact that I've been in the industry for 20 years and I am still here. The only thing that matters to you is my last film and if that was a hit. It's not like I haven't worked enough in the industry or did not have work. I am always judged 'Isne ek bhi hit nahi di...abhi iske paas kaam nahi hai do teen saal se, aur price bhi bahut zyaada maang raha hai toh kaam nahi dete ise'. It's been happening to me."

The actor ended up revealing a lot about his financial crisis on Lock Upp. He shared that he has not been doing well professionally for the last 7 years and unable to clear off 3 to 4 debts. He was also cheated and duped by many which led him to suffer losses in crores. He said, "From 2015 to now, whatever work I take up is only to return the money or pay back my debts." Karanvir Bohra took part in Bigg Boss where he was time and again mocked by Salman Khan for his quirky style. Not just this, several fans alleged that Salman didn't have pleasant things to say to him either. While KVB took it sportingly, his wife Teejay Sidhu retorted in an open letter to Bigg Boss. A part of it read, "When people made fun of Rohit’s purple shorts, they were questioned about it. Whatever KV wears on WKW, he is always ridiculed. Whether it’s his hair, his clothes, his look. It’s wrong to shame someone for the way they look, or how they dress." She also wrote, "KT was told he had no ‘Fizz’, that he probably never did, and wouldn’t even after BB. He is a celebrated actor who has done only hit shows—Kasauti Zindagi Kay - India’s number one show. Saubhagyavati Bhava: number one show, and recently, Naagin 2 on this very channel: another number one show. He is a highly respected, award-winning actor and a fine human being."

The actor exclusively told ETimes TV how his passion for making a film ended up in his losing a lot of money. He said, "I wanted to make a film and ended up exhausting a lot of money on it and then it did not work at all. Aur paise doob gaye… the film was Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna. The film was made quite well but we didn’t get the right release. We all know the status of single producers and theatres, I could not execute because there was their nepotism, nexus involved. Karanvir Bohra was once given a chance to host an award bash. It was a first for the actor and he ended up missing a lot of his lines probably due to nervousness. However, when he pronounced Anupam Kher's name incorrectly, it miffed the latter. Anupam told Karanvir, "Mera naam announce kardo phir, kahi galti se misprint nahi hua ho bhaisaab. The next time if there's a mistake like this accept it honestly and don't try and cover it."

Karanvir Bohra entered the show Qubool Hai in April 2014. He played the role of Aahil Raza Ibrahim and was paired opposite Surbhi Jyoti in it. The actor walked out of the show twice. The first time was in March 2015 when he cited that his character would overstretch if he continued, though there were reports that he was sacked. While he returned later, he again quit because of the leap.
