Kya aap mujhse shaadi karengi?

That’s what Rahul Mahajan is asking on the small screen these days! Set for a swayamvara, Rahul says that his intentions are good and he is doing mehnat to find the right partner....
Kya aap mujhse shaadi karengi?
That Rahul Mahajan is going to get hitched is old news. Whats new is that his mother Rekha Mahajan is going to appear on Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayenge - Swayamvara Season II too, on NDTV Imagine.
Confirms a channel source, Yes, one of the reasons why Rahul is so keen to get married is that he wants to see his mother happy. Shell be making an appearance on some of the episodes and will help Rahul choose his bride.
In fact, Rahuls planning to make her meet all the 16 to-be-bahus. Its not confirmed how many shows shell appear on yet.
Rahul says, I have to choose a dulhan for me and when I say something, I live up to it. I dont want to get married because Ive to appear on a TV show but I feel the need within me. I want to have kids and I feel the need to settle down. My dad wanted to see my kids and after hes gone, all I can think of is keeping my mother happy. I want a baby, I want to hold him or her close to my chest, carry the baby... At heart, Im a very fatherly person. On this show, Im not only looking at getting married, Im looking at starting a proper family.
But given his image with girls hes a divorcee, his ex-wife accused him of beating her up, he was linked to Payal Rohatgi and Monica Bedi does he think girls will make a beeline for his swayamvara? People have seen me and my life closely on Bigg Boss 2. I cant fool anybody about what I am. Wherever I go, people show their affection for me and thats because theyve seen something genuinely good in me. They love me and if they do so, something must be right somewhere. My intentions are clear, main shubh karya karne ja raha hoon, mera intention bhi shubh hai, he answers.
His mother is not the only one who will appear on the show, Rahuls friend and personal pundit is going to be on the show too. Dont go by his attire, says Rahul, adding, Hes a professor at a university, a friend and my personal punditji too. Hes going to be with me on an episode, as hes the one who is matching all the kundlis for me. Ill be matching the horoscopes of all the girls with mine and hes going to suggest the right girl for me. In fact, he also predicted that Ill get married in 2010. And that seems to be coming true, as according to the telecast schedule, my marriage is all set to take place in March 2010.

After Rakhi, is Rahul taking reality TV to the next level, right? Im not taking reality TV to the next level, Im taking my life to the next level, towards a better beginning. This is not a show, its my life, he says. Cmon now, is he actually serious about the whole thing? Im very serious. The show is called Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Im going to do just that take home a bride. This is going to be more like an arranged marriage. And in an arranged set up, people search the newspapers and the web for matrimonials, then why not TV? It reaches out to the maximum number of people! he says.
So, there isnt a contract or anything that he cant divorce the wife or he wont marry her eventually? Theres no contract and since I dont know Rakhi personally, I dont know about the rumoured contract in her case either. And statistics dont matter to me, this is going to be my life now. And I want to do it in front of the whole country to get everybodys blessings, he adds.
Has he told his ex-wife Shweta? Lets not drag her into this conversation. And it isnt a nice thing to call your ex-wife and say ki main swayamvara karne ja raha hoon, he adds. But people have started talking about his failed marriage and link-ups... Theyve been doing that since I was in Bigg Boss. And I think they should stop talking like that now. That time has come and gone and Ive moved on. And as long as my bride and the people who know me dont get affected, Im fine with all thats said in the media, Rahul says.
All that said, what kind of girl is he looking for? Somebody who is honest and genuine. I know nobody is perfect but I want chemistry to be there between me and my bride. A weddings not only about love or looks, theres much more in it. And I want my wife to be my best friend. She and I need to be partners for life, I dont want anyone of us to get bored after one or two years, Rahul says, adding, Aur iske liye main mehnat bhi kar raha hoon. To be on the show, Im taking lessons in dance. Other than personal training, Im also learning horse riding.
