Kushal Punjabi prayer meet: Wife Audrey Dolhen, Chetan Hansraj, Karanvir Bohra pay their respects

Television actor Kushal Punjabi known for his roles in shows like Ishq Mein Marjawan, Kya Haal, Mr. Paanchal? and a few stunt-based reality shows and movies died on Thursday, December 26. Kushal committed suicide and was found hanging at his Bandra residence by his friends.

The actor left a note behind which stated that 50 per cent of his assets to be divided between his mother and sister and the remaining 50 per cent to be given to his now three-year-old son, Kiaan. A prayer meet was organised on Sunday, December 29, in Khar for his friends, relatives and close ones to pay their last respects. Kushal Punjabi's wife Audrey Dolhen flew in from Shanghai to India after learning about his death. Audrey attended the prayer meet and while leaving the venue, she had her face entirely covered as her media surrounded her. They got married in 2015 and have a three-year-old son named Kiaan. The couple was going through separation.

Karanvir Bohra was the first one to write about Kushal Punjabi's demise on social media. The actors shared a great bond and their kids also played together. In his post, a heartbroken Karanvir wrote: "Ur demise has shocked the hell out of me.I'm still in denial @itsme_kushalpunjabi. I know you are in a happier place, but this is unfathomable. The way you lead your life really inspired me in more ways than one....but what was I to know. Your zest for dancing, fitness, off-road biking, fatherhood and above all that, that smiling face of yours, your happy-go-lucky nature your warmth all that was such ingenuity. Chetan Hansraj was one of the few peoples, who Kushal called up a few days before this unfortunate incident. In an interview with the TimesofIndia.com, Chetan revealed a few things that was bothering Kushal. He confirmed that it was a suicide and stated, “He was going through separation from his wife and he was also down with sickness. I still can’t believe that Kushal is no more with us. I spoke to him a couple of days ago and he discussed with me that he was disturbed. I tried telling him that things happen in life and he should just fight back. But I never imagined that he will take such a step. It is heartbreaking.” (Photo: Yogen Shah)

Kavita Kaushik was also shocked and saddened by this news. The actress attended the prayer meet of the departed soul. Kavita spoke up about depression being its cause and wrote about it on social media. "Depression is not a CRIME.. we all are struggling with something or the other .. please talk .. please don’t pretend to be happy when you are breaking inside , fuck the bloody pressure of showing the world that EVERYTHING IS OK ! The FIR actress also wrote: "Kushal was a fighter .. he would be doing something new each time that we would connect , we were colleagues and not close friends but I know his family.. his parents and sister, they are simple and good people .. why did no one see this coming ? Cos mental health is a fuckin serious issue and people hide what’s really troubling them ,each one of us as at some point are bound to be in a dark space !! That’s life ! Now this wonderful guy is gone and all we can do is mull over “why” and “why couldn’t “ but the fact is that there is so much judging , so much “have to be relevant” , “maintaining the perfect image “ pressures we take on us and expect from others !! Stop generalising every damn thing .. pls be kind to each other , stay away from those who just gossip and bitch behind people’s backs and instead form a chain to protect and reach out ..
