From starving to look slim to living in rented PGs; Nia Sharma gets candid about her initial struggles in the Industry

Nia Sharma who was last seen in Laughter Chefs has a fun podcast with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa. Nia got candid about her initial days in the Industry, how she bagged her first show and so on. Here's what Nia had to say:

2/8

On her fashion choices

I have always been like this, but it is a fact that people couldn't digest me in the beginning the way I dressed up in the Industry. Today, the girls know how to grab the camera and how to wear it. But I was doing it all in 2013-14 and I was barely 23-24 years old. Indian audience couldn't digest my fashion statements. I used to work on TV and watch FTV. I like wearing short clothes, but my profession clashes with them and people can't stand me wearing those outfits. They have a certain mentality with me wearing short clothes.

3/8

Wanted to become a journalist

I wanted to do Journalism. I was very keen and I wanted to go all out and I wanted to do that news anchoring. I would go for the news internships and then my friend took me for an audition and I cracked it. They selected me and the first show Kali Ek Agni Pariksha, was Ashutosh Rana's show. They sent me tickets and my mom also let me go as it was a huge show. I was barely 20.

4/8

How she bagged Ek Hazaaron Mein

I thought that after the show I would go back to Delhi and do my post graduation and pursue Journalism. I had booked the tickets and I was shopping for Mom and I got a call that I was locked for Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. That show was in the pipeline for a year and they straight away locked in. That is where I met Krystle.

5/8

Used to live in rented PGs

She used to have a car, I used to stay in a rented PG, and I used to stay on the fourth floor there was no lift and the house was really shabby. Everyone wants to see the hype you're in. I have also started from scratch, I have even lived in homes where the door would open and my bed would be there. I would sleep on that small bed and adjust with that owner.

6/8

Was in tears due to a terrible housemate

I have stayed in such PGs as well where that owner would party all night and get her friends. I had to go back every morning at 8:30 on the set and I used to barely get 4 hours of sleep and in that also they used to party. I have sat on the balcony and cried. I used to cry so much that I was so frustrated and tired and then she asked me to leave because she thought I created drama.

7/8

Had work but no home

I had a lot of work but I didn't have a house in my initial days. Then my friend took my mom and found a place for me. All I had decided that I wanted to buy my own house. Now, when people troll me, I don't care that much. Mere paas sad hone ka time nahi hai. I see my house now and I feel happy and fortunate.

8/8

Used to starved for days to look slim

I have given 14 years to this Industry. I am not bragging about it, but I have worked hard to look like this. I have starved for days to stay slim. I didn't know how to diet and all. I only knew that if I kept starving then I would stay thin. I am now confident enough to be the way I am. I am carrying that confidence with me and if you find this arrogant then I am sorry not my fault.
