From sleeping in Govinda's living room to owning a 3BHK just to keep his shoes and clothes; Krushna Abhishek recalls his rags-to-riches journey

Krushna Abhishek, who enjoys buying expensive and trendy shoes and clothing, recently came on Archana Puran Singh's YouTube channel, where she hosted him for lunch. In a candid conversation, Krushna made some heartfelt revelations about his childhood, struggles and more.

Chi Chi mama had shared how he had kept a mannat at Vaishno Devi for my birth. But when I was born he was struggling at that time and forgot about the mannat. Later when I was 5-6 years old he remembered about it and he took me to Vaishno Devi. But by that time I had become healthy and it was very difficult for him to carry me to the temple for 6 hours. So the fans helped him and he carried me to the shrine.

I grew up at my nani's home which was Govinda's house and I lived there for 8-9 years. I used to see him do rehearsals at home. I used to sleep in the hall, I have never told this to anyone. But at Chi Chi Mama's place, there was a huge hall and in the corner, I used to sleep in the hall with my bedding on the floor. When I would wake up, these stalwart directors would be sitting in the hall waiting for Mama. They would pamper me so that I wake up Mama.

I always say that Archana ji used to give us a lot of confidence by praising us and also boosted our career like a mothers. She has always encouraged us. There is no secret to comedy, there shouldn't be any other option but to succeed.

When I started working, I used to stay in a rented house. My father didn't have money at all. To pay the Rs 10000 rent, I had to work no matter what. I still remember I did my first film and it was a flop. I wasn't getting work so I shifted to regional films and I used to Rs 2 Lakhs for each Bhojpuri film. That money is used to help us bring food home and pay our expenses. So that one paycheck would solve our basic needs.

You won't believe it, but till I didn't go to Govinda Ji's home, my father would only make us daal roti. He would make daal and roti, I was only 10 years old. My father had advised me that when I have my own kids, I must always feed them with love. My food should have love as the prime ingredient. When I joined Comedy Circus, I used to earn Rs 1.5 Lakhs per episode.

I have a brand collection of shoes. I'll share an anecdote, all my life I have worn Govinda ji's clothes. When I was in college, he used to wear big brands. So I didn't know the names, he would wear Prada, Gucci, DnG and all. For the longest time, I thought DnG was David and Govinda, he must have made a clothing brand. In those days, he used to do many films with David Dhawan.

I have bought a house and have turned it into a boutique. I only keep my shoes and clothes in that 3 BHK flat. I keep shifting the lot every six months. Archana ji has already told me, so I shall shop for you next time Ayushmann from LA. I'll remind Kashmera to bring some nice pair of denim for you.
