From Seerat Kapoor to Hiba Nawab: TV celebs who refused to do intimate scenes

When it comes to their projects, a few performers have always been open about their preferences and decisions. Despite the fact that many artists are experimenting with many genres and channels, others have been steadfast in their refusal to perform up-close or provocative scenes on TV or any other medium. Several actors have declined to appear in intimate scenes on TV or on the Web.

Imlie fame Seerat who plays the negative role in the show had revealed to ETimes TV that she is against doing intimate scenes on screen. Seerat added “Most roles offered on OTT require intimacy on screen. I am not judging that, but I am not comfortable with intimacy unless strictly demanded for the story’s development.”

Jannat Zubair, who just featured on Khatron Ke Khiladi 12, has repeatedly stated that she will never conduct intimate sequences on television since she is uncomfortable with it. Jannat was approached to do an intimate scene for a TV show, but she declined. Jannat told ETimes TV that “I will not lock lips on-screen even if I am paired opposite a superstar. That’s out of the question. I am not dependent on this profession for my bread and butter, so I can’t be forced to do anything. There won’t be any kissing scenes and the team can’t use my body double either, to perform something I am not comfortable with."

Anushka Sen, who recently made waves for making her film debut in South Korea, had stated that she would not do personal sequences on television. When asked if she agrees with her best friend Jannat Zubair that intimate situations on television should be avoided, she said yes. Anushka further stated “I am very careful before choosing roles and my parents are always there. So, I don't think I would land up in such a situation. We always discuss scripts with each other and together make a decision. And in case I do, I will not do a kissing scene. I think Jannat took the right decision and even I would do the same. I would not do a role that is older than me because I don't look like someone above 17-18 years. Also, I won't take up a typical romantic role as I want to do challenging roles. I would do it when the time is right. I will always take up roles that are close to my age. I would do romantic roles at the right time when I feel it's the right age.”

Erica Fernandes was always vocal about her preferences and dislikes. Erica has stated to ETimes TV that she is unwilling to conduct intimate sequences for TV or web ventures. She told ETimes TV “I am not comfortable doing bold shows and content and I am quite open about it. I have been offered quite a few shows until now. There have been shows that came my way and had bold content and I have said no to them because sometimes I feel they are forcefully added to the show to sell.”

Not only women but also TV male actors, most notably Shakti's Vivian Dsena, have refused to perform in personal scenes. Vivian, who has previously revealed that he dislikes filming love scenes, has stated that he does not feel comfortable kissing his co-stars on TV. He believes it is unnecessary for him to perform a kissing scene on television.

Hiba Nawab, who now plays Sayuri in Woh Toh Hai Albela, previously stated to ETimes TV that she was working on a web series and added"I would want to be a part of it. But honestly, what’s stopping me is the bold content. I am not comfortable exposing myself or doing bold scenes. I do get calls and the moment I ask if there are any kissing or intimate scenes, they say yes. My family is not in favour of it. As an individual, I am also not comfortable.”

One of Bigg Boss 13's most well-known rivals, Mahira Sharma, told ETimes TV in an interview that she gets uneasy performing intimate sequences on camera. When we inquired if she would be willing to do an unusual sequence on-screen in the future, she responded yes but further stated “I'm against doing bold scenes because I think if I am doing some work I should be able to watch it comfortably with my family. Also, I myself am not comfortable doing bold scenes therefore I prefer taking up projects that do not require bold scenes from my character.”

Pavitra Punia, a Bigg Boss 14 participant, earlier stated that she refused to work on a show as she was asked to do an intimate scene. She also claimed that she cannot manage to do an intimate scene on screen owing to her anxieties.

Despite the fact that her husband, Jay Bhanushali, participated in his directorial debut, Hate Story 2, Mahhi Vij is apprehensive of her co-stars. During a love scene in Balika Vadhu, co-star Ruslaan Mumtaz had to touch his lips against hers, and she got cold feet.

Even Kasam actress Kratika Sengar acknowledged feeling uneasy on-screen during intimate scenes. Kratika, who co-starred with Ssharad Malhotra, rejected to do any intimate scenes with her co-stars and informed the production team in advance. Ekta Kapoor, too, did not protest the actress' hesitancy, instead preparing for a body double and having no issues with the team's choice.

Iqbal Khan feels that most TV viewers are families, thus he has promised never to kiss on camera. The actor also acted in a private scene in a film, but he chose to justify his choice on television. According to rumours, he was unhappy with the film's personal segment and hence refused to kiss. He, on the other hand, has no problem with staging love scenes that set a limit and aren't excessive.

Gauahar Khan, the Bigg Boss 7 winner, has also denied starring in any intimate scenes on television or in internet series. The performer, who recently completed a web series, has explicitly said that she will never appear in any romantic scenes on TV. She also stated that she has refused to participate in a number of events due to similar demands.
