From feeling scared about her IV in her neck to receiving a shy welcome from son Ruhaan; Dipika Kakar is back home from hospital post her surgery

Dipika Kakar, who got diagnosed with 2nd stage liver cancer, is finally back home after her major liver tumour surgery. In their latest vlog, Shoaib Ibrahim documented the emotional moments—from her fear of the neck IV and drain pipe removal to receiving a shy yet heartwarming welcome from their son Ruhaan. With loving support from family, skilled doctors, and fans’ prayers, Dipika bravely overcomes each step of her recovery journey, though Shoaib mentions there’s still a long way to go.

Discharge After 11 Days

After 11 challenging days, Dipika Kakar was discharged. “It’s one step completed, a lot more is ahead,” Shoaib shared. Due to her hands becoming puffy from medications, doctors placed the IV on her neck. “It’s a bit uncomfortable but better than on hand. Getting it on the neck is less painful,” Dipika explained. As per doctors, she would continue check-ups regularly while her recovery progresses slowly and carefully under medical supervision.

Fear Before Pipe Removal

Dipika openly expressed her anxiety about the drain pipe removal: “I feel scared as they will take out the drain pipe. They inserted it when I wasn’t in senses, but they’ll remove it while I am awake.” Shoaib, feeling equally nervous, confessed, “I came out as Dipika was getting those things out. I am very scared of all those things. I want to be near her, but I am also scared.”

The Scariest Part of Surgery

Dipika admitted, “The only scary part of the entire surgery was the pipe in the neck.” Despite going through a 14-hour surgery, it was these small moments that tested her strength. Shoaib added, “They took it out very smoothly.” A pouch still remains temporarily to drain toxins and prevent infection, but both Dipika and Shoaib stay strong, focusing on her gradual healing.

Emotional Support from Doctors

Praising the doctors, Shoaib shared, “The doctors are very good, also as humans. When they said it’s malignant, we broke down. They gave us space to process it.” The couple expressed deep gratitude for the team’s medical expertise and emotional sensitivity, which helped them navigate the overwhelming diagnosis of stage 2 liver cancer with strength and hope.

Tea Before Leaving Hospital

Before leaving the hospital, Dipika had a small but special moment that made her day — her first cup of tea post-surgery. The simple pleasure brought her comfort and a sense of normalcy after days of medications and restrictions. Finishing her tea marked her readiness to leave the hospital and step into the next phase of her healing journey.

Ruhaan’s Adorable Reaction

Dipika received a shy but heart-melting welcome from her son Ruhaan, who was excited to see his mom back. “Sharma gaya,” Dipika lovingly said as Ruhaan ran around joyfully but stayed careful not to disturb her. The little one even painted Dipika and Shoaib’s faces, creating light-hearted family moments that brought smiles after days of emotional stress.

Dipika shares first post from the hospital as she gets discharged

Dipika Kakar recently underwent a challenging 14-hour long surgery for stage 2 liver cancer. Following three days in the ICU, she was moved to a regular ward and has been recovering steadily. On June 12, Dipika was discharged from the hospital and shared her first photos from her room, expressing relief and gratitude. She informed her fans that she is now tumour-free and that the first phase of her treatment has been completed. In an emotional caption, Dipika wrote, "“11 Days of being here and now home… Free from the tumour… but this is one part of the treatment done… remaining will follow in the coming time… and mujhe yakeen hai I will sail through that too as i said before.”

Family's Warm Welcome

Dipika was welcomed with open arms by her entire family. New mom and sister-in-law Saba gifted her a beautiful flower bouquet, while her mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and other family members showered her with blessings. The gathering reflected how closely knit the family is, standing united to support Dipika during this challenging period of recovery.
