Fringe first: Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia’s new look is for her next project
Fringe is having a moment this season, with actresses like Ananya Panday, Aditi Rao Hydari and Bhumi Pednekar embracing the trend. Joining the list is Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who has debuted a new fringe look this summer. The change lends a softer, more relaxed edge to her appearance and has already been drawing attention across social media and industry circles.
While there was initial speculation that the transformation was a personal style update, Nimrit has now confirmed that it is for an upcoming project. Confirming that the change is tied to her upcoming work, she says, “I’ve started working on something new, a thriller, and this look is for that project. I had been wanting to experiment for a while, and this felt like the right time. It’s always exciting to step into something new, and this is a small part of that journey.”
The change has clearly worked in her favour. She adds, “I’m absolutely loving it because I have never seen myself like this before. I feel fresh and edgy. I love how it brings out a different side to my personality. Honestly, everyone, including my fans, is loving it. I hadn’t quite expected such a positive reaction.”
Nimrit, who became a household name as Meher in Chhoti Sarrdaarni, is set to make her OTT debut with Ab Hoga Hisaab. For the actress, returning to a long-format narrative has been both nostalgic and creatively fulfilling. In a chat with us, she had previously shared, “After working on films, returning to a space where the story unfolds over time brings a different kind of excitement. Long-format shows give you the time to truly sit with your character, understand its layers, and grow with it. You are not rushing from one emotional beat to another; you get to process things more deeply, both for yourself and the story. Being back on set reminded me why I fell in love with storytelling. It is demanding, but also incredibly rewarding.”
