Former 'Shark Tank India’ judge Deepinder Goyal addresses the ‘10-minute delivery’ promise, says ‘partners don’t even have a timer’
Fast delivery apps are all the hype in India right now, and Deepinder Goyal, founder of one of the biggest food delivery apps, is all about growing it. However, as of late, many netizens have pointed out that the “10-minute delivery” promise seems almost abusive for drivers and riders who sign up to earn from such applications. Addressing the rumors and allegations, the CEO posted a lengthy statement to his social media timeline.
He shared that the slogan is there based on the proximity of the warehouse to your localized address. He stated that the order gets packed in 2.5 minutes, after which the driver has to fulfill the assigned delivery. He further added, “Delivery partners don’t even have a timer on their app to indicate what was the original time promised to the customer. After you place your order on Blinkit, it is picked and packed within 2.5 minutes. And then the rider drives an average of under 2 km in about 8 minutes. That's an average of 15 km/h.”
“If I were outside the system, I would also believe that gig workers are being exploited, but that's not true,” he concluded.
