Exclusive - Priyanka Chahar Choudhary breaks silence on ‘going under the knife’ rumours, Naagin comparisons, and her Naagin 7 look

Television actress Priyanka Chahar Choudhary is all set to make a comeback to the fiction genre with the supernatural saga Naagin 7. The actress recently joined Times of India TV for an exclusive chat, where she opened up about her look, the waiting period for the show, and comparisons with previous Naagin actresses. She also reacted to recent rumours alleging that she went under the knife to enhance her features. (Photo: Instagram)

On bagging Naagin 7

This journey has been as much for the fans as it has been for me. I was waiting for it too. First came the call, then the official launch, and finally that long-awaited moment arrived. It feels amazing to know that Naagin will soon be back with a new season on everyone’s screens. The entire process has been wonderful, from being part of Bigg Boss 16, to returning to the show for promotions, and now stepping into the role of Naagin. It truly feels surreal. I’m extremely grateful to Ekta ma’am for giving me this opportunity. Working with Colors again feels like coming back home. (Photo: Instagram)

On comparisons with previous Naagins

I don’t think it’s right to get caught up in comparisons, especially when only the trailer is out and the full show is yet to be seen. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion—whether it’s fans or even trolls, and that’s completely fine. Comparisons are bound to happen, and I’m okay with that. (Photo: Instagram)

Naagin is a massive franchise and a strong brand, which comes with great responsibility

What matters more is giving your best rather than worrying about how you’re being compared. The only thing in my control is putting in my hundred percent, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. Naagin is a massive franchise and a strong brand, which comes with great responsibility. I’m giving it my all and hope to live up to it with complete sincerity. (Photo: Instagram)

Favourite Naagin - If I had to name one, it would be Mouni Roy

I haven’t watched many of the earlier seasons because we weren’t allowed to watch television at home, my father was quite strict. But yes, I did watch the first season. All the seasons have been very successful, and I’m aware of the storyline of each one. When it comes to favourites, I honestly liked all of them. Every actor and actress who has been part of the show has performed wonderfully. If I had to name one, it would be Mouni, for sure. That said, everyone has portrayed their roles beautifully. Priyanka on her look

When it comes to shaping the character and planning Naagin's look, it’s important to understand that it’s not just about my input. If I add something, it could end up reflecting Priyanka’s touch as well. That’s why it’s better to first follow what the makers have envisioned. They are the ones writing the story and truly understanding the character. The look and personality were thoughtfully developed by the entire team, the costume department, Anu, Nidhi, the creative team, and Ekta ma’am. (Photo: Instagram)

I’ve always maintained that I don’t want to bring Priyanka’s influence into the role

Everyone had a clear idea in mind, and by combining their inputs, the final look was created. They genuinely tried to make it distinct. I’ve always maintained that I don’t want to bring Priyanka’s influence into the role. My only aim is to stay true to my character and do complete justice to it. (Photo: Instagram)

Waiting period for Naagin

It was simply my decision whether to take up other opportunities or not, and I chose to decline. I have no regrets about it because the choice was made after careful thought. What people often call a “waiting phase” doesn’t feel like waiting to me at all. For me, it’s been one of the most valuable periods. Once you’re constantly working as an actor, you rarely get the time to pause and learn, you’re on set for 12 hours a day. If you do get time, it’s important to use it well. So, I don’t see it as waiting. I see it as working on yourself, preparing, learning, or simply doing something productive. (Photo: Instagram)

Rumours of plastic surgery

All these things have been happening for a long time. I was on medication throughout last year and was given very heavy doses of antibiotics, but most people don’t know that. It made me lose weight, but my face was bloated, even though people thought it was something else. As for small things, that’s okay. Everyone has the right to enhance their looks, and that is completely my choice. If I apply kajal or wear lenses, people start thinking I’ve done something to my face. Guys, this is my face and it has its own personality. It’s just a little touch-up or makeup. If you break it down as makeup, people still end up saying something, and that’s not right. On judging looks

What’s the problem in that? It’s your choice. It’s your face and it’s completely up to you. Even if someone thinks it’s bad, it’s still your call. So why do people feel the need to comment or worry about it? I agree that we are public figures, but sometimes people become very insensitive, and that shouldn’t happen. I still take it sportingly, but there are many people who can’t handle such comments." (Photo: Instagram)
