Exclusive - Kundali Bhagya fame Sanjay Gagnani credits television for giving him a solid foundation; says 'Television built me'
Actor Sanjay Gagnani, who earned immense popularity for playing the negative role of Prithvi Malhotra, in Ekta Kapoor's TV show Kundali Bhagya, praised television for providing him a solid foundation for his acting career and helping him gain recognition.
He said, "Television built me—it gave me discipline, reach, and a connection with audiences that’s irreplaceable. I feel every TV appearance, including guest roles or cameos, serves as a formal credit to gain experience and visibility."
"Television is the primary platform that builds and establishes career longevity and acts as a springboard to global stardom. While with the experience it becomes easy for an actor to transition into films, others," he added.
Now, as the entertainment landscape shifts rapidly, the actor is reflecting on the rise of OTT platforms and how they have redefined opportunities for performers like him.
Speaking about the transformation, Sanjay on exploring new horizons as an actor he shared, “The web, however, has pushed me to break patterns and explore more layered, real characters. Right now, I’m enjoying that creative freedom."
Currently busy with upcoming projects, Sanjay is optimistic about what lies ahead. He continued, "But I’ve never believed in limiting myself to a medium—if television offers something that excites me again, I’d absolutely return. My last TV show, Kundali Bhagya, will always remain a defining part of my journey."
"At this stage of my career, I’m very clear—I’m here to evolve, to take risks, and to consciously diversify my work. I want my filmography to reflect range, depth, and a certain seriousness towards the craft," he concluded.
With his charm, dedication, and adaptability, Sanjay remains a household name for his acting in shows like Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka, Naagin 4, Naagin 6, Kumkum Bhagya, Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera, Hamari Devrani among others.
