Exclusive- From accusing her father Ashwin of being abusive to Rupali Ganguly of stealing jewellery and sending death threats; Esha Verma gets candid about what her mother and she faced

Rupali Ganguly's husband Ashwin Verma's daughter from his second marriage, Esha Verma, has finally come up and revealed her side of the tale about how her mother and she were troubled and left with a difficult life. In an exclusive conversation with TOI TV, Esha Verma opened up about the accusations of Rupali Ganguly, her father's neglect, Rupali's bullying and death threats and more.

Esha was silenced by Rupali and Ashwin for years

I have stayed silent for years because I was silenced by my parents. I mean Ashwin K Verma and Rupali Ganguly silenced me from speaking out. Obviously, their reputation was on the line. Rupali was a nobody when they started and I still wanted to expose the truth and give justice to my mother because she was the human being who was destroying my family. So it does not matter about how famous she is today. Today, anybody could become famous and viral through social media, I am not targeting her because of her show.

Esha accuses Ashwin of being abusive, alcoholic and speaks about his smoking habits

I loved my father more than anything in this world, but when a father chooses not to acknowledge their children it's the most heartbreaking thing. My father was an abusive man, primarily emotionally abusive by ignoring and neglecting his own child. That is why the fans have been saying that he's not my real father. He was an alcoholic, he smoked every day and he would go outside and speak to Rupali every day. As a young girl, when I confronted him, he would lie that it was a male friend. But I heard them, I witnessed her orchestrating and begging him to leave the marriage. This has been going on since 2000.

Esha on Rupali's obsession with her father

My father and Rupali both were abusive, mentally, physically and emotionally towards me and my mother. They had come to my grandparents' house while we were visiting them in Mumbai. We used to barely come to India, once in 5 years. My father had come along, but Rupali was constantly calling him, she was obsessed. She had an unhealthy obsession and this was the first time we saw it.

On stealing her mother's jewellery and living in their home

I accused Rupali of stealing my mother's jewellery when we would go visit our family as we needed an escape. It was not safe at home, every day was a battle. One day my father was really really nice and then the next my father was hitting my mother for no reason. Rupali and my father have the shortest anger. My father would calculate those days and bring Rupali back to stay at my house when we were away. When my mother would check her closets, there was really expensive jewellery that was stolen. My mother had bought it all on her own. My father gave so many expensive gifts to Rupali while he was married to my mom. He gave her jewels, gold and all. On the other hand, my mother had to beg for the money to get groceries.

Requests not to mire Rudransh into the controversy

I did everything as a child just to get acceptance from her parents from her father. So I posted that picture and tried to say that they are a part of my family, a part of my life. But the dark side to it was extremely shakening. I would even like to request that please don't get my sister and brother into this battle. A lot of people are saying, you are going to hurt Rudransh, but I am not. There were really mean comments on posts with him too. But my father never really posted a picture of us together to acknowledge that I was related.

7/9

On being bullied by Rupali

Rupali also directly bullied me and as a child that was the hardest thing one faced. She would target my weight and my appearance such as my eyes. She took me for a photoshoot, I had asked my father to get me one photoshoot, that's all I asked for. If I had to get some fame then they would have brought me in front of the media. He did take care of me when I went to Mumbai, but it wasn't safe or stable.

8/9

Rupali called her ugly duckling

So when he encouraged Rupali to take me for a photo shoot and she constantly bullied me, she kept commenting on my eyes, and how my nose looked big. She even called me the ugly duckling, I was only 12 years old at that time. And I had to heal from that insecurity till today. She scarred me with that trauma.

9/9

Accused Rupali of sending death threats

I have a safe and beautiful life here, but it took us a lot of struggles to come back on our feet. My mother and I have worked hard and the community in New Jersey has supported us. If I had been in India, it would have been extremely unsafe for me. Rupali would splur death threats and you don't know how real that could have gotten putting my life in danger. I feel I am stable and safe as I am here.
