Exclusive - Dimpy Ganguly on her dreamy maternity photoshoot: I missed having one during my first two pregnancies; this felt special

Dimpy Ganguly and her family are excitedly looking forward to welcome their little 5th member. The family of four recently had a dreamy family-maternity photoshoot and ETimes TV got in touch with the actress on the same. Dimpy spoke about how she missed having a maternity photoshoot done in her previous two pregnancies and had a dreamy one with her two kids (Reanna and Aryan) and hubby Rohit Roy. Excerpt from the chat:

On conceptulising the maternity photoshoot

This is something I always wanted to do. I wanted to document my pregnancy. But when you are about to become mom for the first time, there are a lot of inhibitions, you are scared of a lot of things, you just want a safe and healthy delivery. We didn’t know whether we should do it.

Having a planned photoshoot in third pregnancy

Planning a photoshoot, takes quite a bit. When I was pregnant with Reanna, we didn’t hire anybody for a photoshoot. My husband, Rohit took some pictures. He is very good with the camera. I was happy with that. When I was pregnant for the second time, I wanted to get one done. But then, Covid happened and everything was shut. So again it was pictures we took in the family. Luckily, this time around, my friend Rashmi was coming to Dubai. She approached me for the photoshoot. And I was happy to do it.

‘Happy to do something for myself’

When you don’t have a photoshoot done for the other two babies, you are in double mind. But thankfully, she came here and conceptualised. She did ask me about my likings. I shared my ideas with her and certain looks. She came with the dresses and did a lovely job. I am really happy she did it. I felt happy that I did something for myself. That’s my biggest take away from the photoshoot.

‘It was a day to celebrate my body and the arrival we are waiting for’

When you become a mom, it’s always about your kids. You are so focused on their well-being, their upbringing, you somewhere forget to love yourself. You forget to pamper yourself. Suddenly, the photoshoot day was a day about me. Ya, my kids and husband were also there but it was more about me. It was a day about celebrating my body… celebrating this other arrival we are waiting for.

6/8

Having her two kids Reanna and Aryan around for the photoshoot

They are not in a place to take any instruction. But I think by now, both my kids are trained because we take so many pictures all the time. Everytime we tell Bunny (Aryan) to smile, he will drop everything and just smile. It’s quite cute. They were playing around. Rashmi came with her two kids. So while we were doing our photoshoot, they are playing together. Daddy was running behind them and taking care of them.

With many moms-to-be opting for a bold maternity photoshoot, Dimpy on her choice

I really wanted something that’s very feminine and also definitely involves my family. The idea was to celebrate the memories from the time we were a family of four. I have done too much of bold in the past, I have lived my life as a model, a television personality, I am over that. For me, I am happy with just having pictures of me, the baby bump, my babies and my baby producing co-partner (laughs). I made it clear to Rashmi that I don’t want something that’s extremely flaunting but something that’s modest and feminine.

8/8

Celebrating happy moments on social media

The discomforts and mood swings are more when you are physically challenged. With Reanna, I could just laze around, cook whatever I want, and take my own sweet time. Now, I am on the run. My day starts at 5.36am. It gets taxing. I am blessed to have resilient kids. Reanna is very understanding. She knows mumma is probably feeling challenged today. Nobody has control over the hormonal changes. Looking back, the support from your husband, family, kids is all you need. Social media pictures are about happy times – atleast for me. But obviously, they are not as dreamy as forever. You feel overwhelmed all the time.
