Erica Fernandes to Maddam Sir's Yukti Kapoor; top TV actresses who refused to do intimate scenes on screen

Actors love it when their creative surge is satisfied. However, it bothers them when the focus is shifted from their talent to merely "skin show." With several television actors transitioning to the digital space, there are a few popular ones, who've been offered to do "bold" content but they've refused projects filled with "intimate scenes." Recently, Erica Fernandes opened up about turning down such projects. Many such TV actresses have rejected big projects because of their content. Let's take a look:

Erica Fernandes, who was last seen on the show, 'Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi 3,' has stayed away from the small screen. The actress, however, is quite active on social media and recently received an award too. Erica had told ETimes TV that she said 'no' to a lot of web projects because they had intimate scenes. "I am not comfortable doing bold shows and content and I am quite open about it. I have been offered quite a few shows until now. There have been shows that came my way and had bold content and I have said no to them because sometimes I feel they are forcefully added to the show to sell."

And, in a recent interview with BT too, she echoed the same view, and said, "There are lovely characters on many online platforms but then there are some projects which have intimacy in it and some of them are forced. However, if it is really important in a project then I might consider it, but I have my own restrictions and will not be comfortable doing certain things. This was the reason I had to turn down many web shows, because the level of intimacy was a bit too much for me and it is tough to wait for roles which are good and have less intimacy involved."

Seen as sub-inspector Karishma in Maddam Sir, actress Yukti Kapoor's journey in the industry has also been filled with hurdles. Talking about it, in a recent interview with BT, Yukti had said that she was asked to expose but she declined the offer. "I was 14 when I bagged a show on Doordarshan. That was easy but the following years were ridden with obstacles. I came to Mumbai seven years ago to pursue a career in acting. During this time, I got offers to play something I wasn’t comfortable doing - exposing. I declined some film projects in which I was required to expose. I want to be part of projects, which can be watched by families together," said Yukti.

Hiba Nawab is currently seen in the show, 'Woh Toh Hai Albela' opposite Shaheer Sheikh. The show went on air from March 14. Hiba was earlier seen in the sitcom, 'Jijaji Chhat Par Hain' and during that time, in an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Hiba opened up about never showing her cleavage on screen. "I belong to a Muslim family and we have a different culture. I am actually opposing the culture a lot and I don’t want to push it even further. This is my decision along with my family's. Even right now at times they are not okay with me dressing in a certain way and want me to dress up differently. But I have been a little rebellious and don’t want to hurt their sentiments further. They are very understanding and supportive. But I don’t want to wear a bikini, show cleavage and all. That’s my decision and not any conflict," she had said.

Kratika Sengar is also one of the top artists' in the television industry and she too, has her priorities set. The actress, who is enjoying her pregnancy, was supposed to shoot a romantic scene with co-actor Sharad Malhotra in the show, 'Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki.' Kratika refused to shoot it and the makers used her body double. Kratika's face was only used for close-up scenes.

Jannat Zubair was 16 years old when she essayed the role of Pankti in the show, 'Tu Aashiqui.' The actress turned down a scene where she had to get intimate with co-actor Ritvik Arora. Jannat's mother had reportedly slammed the makers for pressurising Jannat. The 20-year-old is a social media influencer, does music videos and leads a luxurious life.

Seen in Sasural Simar Ka 2, Tanya Sharma also has her reservations when it comes to exposing. The actress, in an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, revealed that she refused several web shows because of "bold" content. "I am losing out on a lot of projects because of the requirement of intimate and bold scenes. I understand that when the makers write a story they have a mindset and a concept. Whenever I am approached for a role, I get pressurized when they give examples of other actors. But I have set a boundary for myself, and maybe I am not ready to cross that boundary yet. I am not comfortable doing any intimate scenes right now. So, I do not take up such roles," said Tanya.

Mahhi Vij may be happily enjoying motherhood right now with baby Tara but when she was a part of the show, 'Balika Vadhu,' she refused to do a romantic scene. The actress was supposed to shoot a romantic moment with her co-actor Ruslaan Mumtaz, but Mahhi reportedly got the scene removed from the script.

Sonarika Bhadoria of 'Prithvi Vallabh' fame refused to do a lip-lock scene with her co-actor Ashish. The makers managed to do a cheat scene and convinced the audience. The actress has been a part of the TV industry for more than 10 years and was recently seen in a music video with Mohsin Khan.

Mitaali Nag is currently seen in the show, 'Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein' and one she had said, "I won't wear a bikini. Sensuality and sexuality are not defined by the clothes you wear. It is about the personality and the way you carry yourself."
