Dhruvee Haldankar: Actors don’t come with a retirement plan — their plan is to work as long as they live
Actress Dhruvee Haldankar is keen to explore vertical series and headline web platforms, emphasizing her lifelong commitment to acting.
Actor Dhruvee Haldankar, who was last seen in Pyar Ke Saath Vachan Dharam Patni, says she believes in evolving with the industry — but on her own terms.“After a lot of contemplating, I realised television has evolved tremendously. Many actors are now moving towards vertical series, and I wanted to explore that space too,” she shares. At the same time, she has clear ambitions. “I would love to headline a strong series on web platforms.”For Dhruvee, acting is not a phase but a lifelong commitment. “I don’t ever want to retire! Actors don’t come with a retirement plan — their plan is to work as long as they live,” she says. However, she admits she feels concerned about certain industry trends. “I’m disheartened with so many entertainment platforms coming up like mushrooms and exploiting actors. If you’re good-looking or have followers on social media, that’s not enough to express and act. People are not passionate and don’t respect the culture and ethics of the trade.”She is clear about what she wants next. “I want to wait to work with real cinephiles and passionate filmmakers, where I don’t get curbed with the limitations of the platform,” she says.
Having often been cast in mother roles on television, Dhruvee hopes to break that image. “I want to cut my typecasted mother image and have casting directors call me for better, exciting roles. It does not have to be bold — it could be romantic instead.”
