Debina Bonnerjee on her journey to recovery after C-section delivery of second baby; shares ‘It was God’s call that I started lactating’

Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary welcomed their second baby – a girl on November 11. While the couple is over the moon, Debina had a difficult delivery as she had to undergo a c-section. Debina in a series of vlogs had shown her fans how the birth of her baby was a complicated one. The couple is back home and Debina in her newest vlog spoke about what she went through and how she is healing right now.

Deciding to share her healing journey

Sometimes things go out of hand and you have no control over it. At such times, there’s no point in panicking. Be cool and try to go through with the difficult situations. C-sections are definitely more difficult than normal delivery. After a normal delivery the mother gets up in one to two days. In C-section, the healing process is a bit long.

On her recovery post C-section

After the operation I was just lying in bed throughout. At night I would slowly change sides. Next day the nurse gave me a tip, which helped me a lot. I wanted to be on my feet and stand. I could stand in a bending position. The nurse told me to somehow stand straight and I won’t feel the pain. It actually worked. I walked a bit and also sat.

The magical moment

Debina mentioned that she was ready with formula milk for her baby. She had also taken a box. She shared, “The nurses tried and I started lactating. It’s the most beautiful thing I can say. The first secretion before the milk is called Colostrum and it is the powerhouse of immunity. If your baby gets that, the baby will have a strong immunity system. It was God’s call. The doctors got it in a syringe and gave it to my baby. I am feeling so wonderful to give my baby my milk, when she needs it,” reacted Debina.

Formula milk vs. breast milk

I have also gotten her accustomed to formula milk to be on safer side. Let me tell you, Lianna is also very healthy just drinking formula milk. I have a balance of both.”

6/10

Going for walks

For 5 days I was on antibiotics, I was on pain killers and antacids. After 5 days, painkillers and antibiotics had stopped. I am continuing 2-3 meds. It was continuing for breastfeeding. It’s been two weeks post delivery. We haven’t selected a name yet. I went for a walk, slow walk just to keep my mind good. There’s no need to fear the C-section.

Recovery of the stitches

The dressing was removed and I got waterproof dressing. After 10 days I visited the hospital again and the doctor removed the dressing. Now I can see one mark of the stitch. There’s no stitch mark but one line of cut mark. Mine is a bit long. The delivery was a bit complicated as they couldn’t find the baby and had to cut a bit longer. I just had a horizontal cut and not a vertical cut. Many times in certain situations, a vertical cut is required to get the baby. But the doctor was very calm. Thankfully, I didn’t have a ‘T’ cut.

‘Everything is worth it’

It is not easy to handle two kids. But when you see their faces, everything is worth it. Thankfully I have my parents and friends’ support. When I see their faces, all my tiredness goes away. I do stay up and awake at night for the kids, but I feel fresh. It’s just funny to think the second baby came out of me with so much struggle and we didn’t have to spend so much and Lianna was brought to the world after years of ‘tapasya’, so many treatments and expenditure. The second baby just happened and came and I started lactating.

9/10

‘Guru and I got emotional’

We were watching a video of Lianna and we got so emotional. Babies grow up so fast, it is so funny. Watching a kid grow up is like holding sand in your hand. They will grow up in the blink of an eye.

10/10

Not using any support belt

Debina also mentioned that she is not using any pelvic support belt. She shared, “This does not help. It doesn’t make you slim. I am not using this. It is worn to hold the uterus. I am walking slowly. My belly is reducing slowly.” She also shared pictures of how her belly was after giving birth and how it is slowly reducing. Debina also mentioned that she will resume work out after six weeks. “It’s a process, just enjoy. Don’t think your body is not good,” shared Debina.
