Babloo Mukherjee reveals his secretary gave his role to Ali Asgar in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii; says, “Mere saath game khel gaya woh, I fired him after that”
Babloo Mukherjee, actor and son of popular comedian Keshto Mukherjee, recently opened up about his personal and professional life in an interview. He also recalled the time when his secretary gave his role to Ali Asgar in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, and how that really affected him. He mentioned the regret he felt after missing the chance to work with Ekta Kapoor.
In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Babloo Mukherjee addressed rumours of refusing to work with Ekta Kapoor and explained what exactly went wrong.
Vickey asked him, “I remember Ekta Kapoor offered you Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, and later I heard that the same role of Kamal Agarwal was done by Ali Asgar. What happened there? Did you refuse Ekta?”
Babloo responded by saying, “Wow, refuse? Ali Asgar and I had done a serial not a film called Chunauti. We became very good friends there, like younger and elder brothers. He was already doing dubbing and had worked in serials when he was younger. The story was based on four boys, and he was one of them. It was a very lovable character, and he had acted very well. After we did Chunauti, he told me to recommend him somewhere. At that time, I had hired a secretary not to look for work, but to look after my finances, like collecting payments from here and there. So I told him, ‘See if there’s something for Ali Asgar.’”
He further shared, “Around that time, I had been called by Ekta Kapoor for a script narration. She said a new series was coming up, so come and meet and maybe give an audition. A particular date was discussed, but that date passed and I didn’t get any call from them. So I called there and asked what happened. They said, ‘Ali Asgar is doing the role.’ I was shocked. They said my secretary had informed them.”
Babloo then said, “My secretary was Shailesh, some Gujarati fellow. He was also handling their work. I had told him, ‘Wherever I’m going, just mention Ali’s name too.’ But somehow the game changed. I don’t know what exactly happened, and Ali also didn’t know, I think. I never discussed it with him. After that, we never really spoke about it.”
The interviewer then asked him if he spoke to Ali Asgar after that and if they were still friends. Responding to the same, Babloo said, “Yes, during Chunauti we were. After that, I got busy with my work and he got busy with his.” Babloo also shared that he fired his secretary after this incident.
