Like many celebrities, actress Asmita Sood has both been criticised and appreciated by fellow social media users, she says. While discussing the issue of trolling and moral policing that happens on various platforms, Asmita said that she has been on either side of things and doesn't take it too seriously.
“I think I would say that the social media and the whole world is such that even a six-year-old will have an opinion on what your clothes, on how you look and how tall you are, how fat you are, and so; I think everybody has an opinion right now.
It’s okay since you're an actor – you're a public figure – you are subject to public opinions. I have also faced these issues in the past, I still do you know, sometimes for what I see, sometimes for the kind of opinions I have. In fact, recently, I did face a lot of flak for something that I had said on social media, and that sort of did spark of a lot of controversy. But I was being misunderstood. So again, there was a statement it's been completely misunderstood the way I was saying things and the way people were interpreting things was completely different. So yes, I have faced flak, but I've also got a lot of support. So I would just say that it's a double-edged sword and you can either use it to your advantage or it can completely ruin you as well. So to each their own; everybody's entitled to an opinion right now and has always been so I don't really take it too seriously. I don't take it too hard. I don't really bother too much. You know, about what has been written in the comments or whatever. I'm out there on social for my fans and the people who follow me. I just give out a message to them to just tell them what I'm doing and that's about it. Otherwise, why would I even be there? It’s okay (sic),” said asmita during a recent video interview with Bombay Times.
