Archana Puran Singh recalls feeling guilty as a working mother; says, ‘Wasn’t there for my son when he needed me the most’
Archana Puran Singh, who’s known and loved for her acting skills and comic timing, recently shared a video confirming that she has taken a break from YouTube. However, she recently appeared in her son Aaryamann’s vlog, where she spoke about her motherhood journey during the phases when her son was depressed. She recalled a time when she was shooting continuously for months and later realised that her son needed her.
She shared that after the shoot was over, her son Aaryamann called her and asked if she could speak to him. This made Archana feel very guilty, and she then spent time with Aaryamann. Archana then shared, “He never showed how he truly felt, and we used to think that he’s alright. It was the first time when he told me that he needed me, and I felt so bad that I wasn’t there for him.”
However, Aaryamann praised her for balancing her work along with her role as a mother and for always being his strength. He also threw light on his journey and recalled the phases when he dealt with depression and anxiety.
Aaryamann shared, “Naturally, I was also going through puberty, and when you’re a teenager, there is already a lot of anxiety, confusion, and emotional turmoil. But along with that, there was one thing I didn’t realize at all, which feels funny to say now. I didn’t even know that from the age of maybe 14 or 15 until about 28 or 29, I was depressed. For almost fifteen years, I think I was living in depression. I feel like most days of my life during that time were spent in that state. I don’t even know how to explain to someone how a person can stay depressed for so many years… but I was. And when I think about it now, I just feel like, oh my God.”
Talking about his surgeries, he said, “My nose has been broken twice. My nose used to be here, so I had to fix it and bring it back to the center because I broke it while playing football. I’ve had so many injuries, multiple surgeries on my leg, my hand has been broken, I’ve broken six or seven bones, I even broke my hip once. But I think when you go through things like this, you really go through hell. And it teaches you to appreciate the good times. The good times start feeling even better after that.”
