Apeksha Malviya on playing an 18-year-old in Krishna Mohini: Appearing younger than my actual age proved advantageous
Fahmaan Khan and Debattama Saha have been cast to portray the lead couple in the upcoming show Krishna Mohini, which is expected to hit the tube this month. We have now learnt that Apeksha Malviya has been cast to play Fahmaan’s sister. She shares, “My character is bubbly and full of life, observant of everyone’s interpersonal relationships. Though I am 21, I am playing an 18-year-old college student. I suppose appearing younger than my actual age proved advantageous (smiles). She is the youngest member of the family and shares a strong bond with her brother played by Fahmaan Khan. She will also share a warm equation with Krishna (Debattama Saha).”
Last seen as the negative lead in Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein 2, which ended in August last year, Apeksha was actively auditioning for lead characters. So, how did she end up accepting a character other than the protagonist? “After Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein ended, I was keen on taking up a lead character and continued auditioning for the same. However, as nothing materialised, I decided to accept the offer to join Krishna Mohini. The character appealed to me, and I am glad I accepted the offer. I didn’t want to sit at home waiting for a lead role. It’s always better to be in front of the camera and refine your skills until what you desire comes your way,” she replies.
The Bhopal girl moved to Mumbai three years ago, shortly after the lockdown. Reflecting on her journey into showbiz, she shares, “I was determined to pursue acting and was fascinated by the idea of seeing myself on screen. However, my parents were not in favour of it, given the unpredictable nature of the profession. So, I began learning singing, thinking it would provide me with a pathway into the industry. Through my music class, I made friends who encouraged me to join the theatre. After watching a few of my plays and appreciating my work, my parents eventually agreed to support me. That’s how I ended up here. However, my mother insisted I complete my studies, so I am currently pursuing a degree in physiotherapy. I am in the second year and will complete the course in two years.”
