Anupama Solanki on the true meaning of Teacher’s Day: A teacher can be anyone who changes your perspective
Actress Anupama Solanki, who is currently playing Sudha in Jagriti Ek Nayi Subah, shared her heartfelt thoughts as Teacher’s Day approaches. For her, the day is about much more than just a school celebration; it’s a reminder of gratitude and growth.
“For me, Teacher’s Day is a reminder of respect and gratitude,” Anupama says. “In school, we used to celebrate it with flowers and cards, but now I feel it is about thanking every person who has guided me in any way. A teacher is not always in a classroom, sometimes it is someone who gives you one sentence of advice that changes your thinking. This day makes me value those small but powerful lessons in life.”
Reflecting on her own journey, Anupama fondly recalls a special moment that shaped her career as an actress. She shares, “In my journey, my mentor has been one of my senior colleagues from the industry. I remember during my early shoots, I was very confused about how to face the camera naturally. He told me, ‘Don’t act, just react.’ It sounded so simple, but it completely changed how I performed. From that day, I started enjoying my work instead of overthinking. That senior will always be my teacher in acting.”
When asked about the importance of mentors, Anupama expressed her thoughtful perspective. “I think having a mentor is a blessing, but it is not the only way to grow. If you have someone to guide you, the path becomes smoother. But if you don’t, then your own mistakes and struggles can also become your teacher. In my view, a mentor gives you confidence, but self-learning gives you strength. Both are equally important in building a career.”
With her profound reflections, Anupama Solanki beautifully reminds us that teachers are everywhere — in people, experiences, and even failures. The true essence of Teacher’s Day, she believes, lies in recognizing and respecting all those who shape our lives in big or small ways.
