Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni says socially-driven dramas are connecting deeply with audiences
Currently seen essaying the role of Aradhya in Oh Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera, actress Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni says the show is much more than just a television drama. According to her, the story touches upon several emotional and social realities while carrying a strong message about women empowerment and inner strength.Speaking about the core theme of the show, Aishwarya shared, “Oh Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera is not just an emotional drama, but also a reflection of many social realities. The show strongly highlights women empowerment. It conveys that one should never test the patience of a woman, because a woman is capable of handling everything. She can be the most patient wife, the most loving mother, and at the same time, she can stand strongly against anyone who tries to suppress her or outrage her modesty. The actress feels television continues to influence society in a significant way. “Yes, definitely. What we watch slowly starts occupying space in our subconscious mind. We begin to believe in and emotionally connect with the characters we see on television, which can influence the way society thinks and reacts,” she said.Talking about the impact the role has had on her personally, Aishwarya admitted that Aaradhya’s journey has changed her perspective emotionally and mentally.
“Yes, it has given me more courage to stand for myself against all odds. One of the most beautiful quotes from the show is, ‘Himmat in, darr out.’ In tough situations, it truly gives hope and strength,” she revealed. The actress also shared that she consciously chooses meaningful projects that contribute positively to society. “Definitely. I prefer doing roles that are meaningful and responsible towards the audience. I avoid projects that may misguide the younger generation or promote negativity in society,” Aishwarya explained. With audiences increasingly connecting with realistic storytelling, the actress believes socially-driven dramas are becoming more relevant than ever. “Yes, absolutely. If we look at the TRPs, audiences are clearly connecting with and appreciating socially-driven dramas more than ever,” she said.Aishwarya further confessed that parts of Aaradhya’s personality have stayed with her even off-screen. “Yes, it has. I have become more self-aware and have started prioritising myself a little more, just like Aaradhya,” she shared.Describing her character’s strengths and flaws, Aishwarya said, “The biggest strength of Aaradhya is that she values and prioritises herself. She believes self-love is important and always keeps herself strong. However, her flaw is that sometimes she becomes too consumed in herself and unintentionally overlooks the struggles of her family and surroundings.”Hinting at major developments ahead, the actress teased, “Viewers can expect a very emotional and powerful journey ahead with many unexpected twists.”
