After Jhanak, Hiba Nawab to play the lead in fantasy family sitcom inspired by Bewitched

After a year-long gap, Hiba Nawab, who was last seen as the protagonist in Jhanak, is set to headline a new television show. The actress will play the lead role in an upcoming family sitcom inspired by the globally popular classic Bewitched. Apart from Hiba, the cast also includes Rakhi Vijan and Adhik Mehta in pivotal roles.

The show follows Urvashi, a kind-hearted witch who gives up her magical life for love and promises her husband, Aarav Patel, that she will live as an ordinary human. But her struggles with everyday life often land her in trouble, forcing her to secretly use magic to fix things, only to create even bigger chaos. Blending humour, family drama and fantasy, the show draws much of its comedy from the clash between the Patel family's everyday world and the unpredictable world of magic.



The show marks Hiba’s return to television in a lead role after Jhanak and will see her step into a light-hearted character in a genre that remains relatively uncommon on Indian television.

Hiba remained unavailable for comment.

As reported by us in February, Hiba was approached to play the protagonist in a supernatural thriller. The actress was in advanced talks for the project, which was to be produced by the makers of Ek Mahanayak: Dr BR Ambedkar and Kashibai Bajirao Ballal. However, the show was eventually shelved.

In a previous conversation with us, while reflecting on her journey in showbiz, Hiba, who moved from Bareilly to Mumbai at a young age to pursue her acting dream, had shared, “I was a naive 16-year-old when I moved to Mumbai. I thought life was all about chilling and partying with friends. Had I not been guided by my family, I could have easily got carried away by the glamour and not done much with my life.”

The actress, who has been part of shows such as Jijaji Chhat Per Hain, Woh Toh Hai Albelaa and Meri Saasu Maa, had further added, “I have made many mistakes, both personal and professional, but thankfully, my parents and siblings always nudged me in the right direction and helped me focus on my career.”
