Aashish Bhardhwaj: Taking up a fantasy show was always on my bucket list
Actor Aashish Bhardhwaj is set to headline an upcoming micro drama tentatively titled The Tyrant. Produced by Makshika Films, the fantasy drama marks a departure from the genres the actor has explored in the past and will see him stepping into a world of magic, adventure and romance.
Known for his work in shows such as Mithai, Fauji 2, Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 and Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na, Aashish says the project takes inspiration from the kind of fantasy adventures many viewers grew up watching.
“It’s a fantasy-world fictional drama with a beautiful story, amazing plot twists, action and romance. The show takes viewers into a magical world full of surprises,” he says, adding that the show’s world may remind audiences of classic fantasy adventures such as Aladdin and Hatim.
The project also fulfils a long-standing ambition for the actor. He shares, “Doing a fantasy show and playing a role with superpowers was always on my bucket list. It was a childhood dream.”
Aashish will be seen playing Shan, a character he describes as layered and emotionally complex. He says, “My character has many layers. He is sweet yet rebellious, strong yet soft-hearted at the same time. He also has a fascinating backstory that has shaped who he is today.”
According to the actor, one of the show’s distinguishing features is the balance it strikes between fantasy and emotion. He says, “People are watching a lot of intense action these days, which is great. But this story combines a fantasy world with real-life emotions. It has action, adventure and heart, making it appealing to audiences of all ages, especially children.”
Portraying Shan also required him to navigate a wide emotional spectrum. “My character possesses superpowers, but he is also a very deep and emotional person. Covering such a large spectrum as an actor was challenging but also a lot of fun. He recites poetry and is skilled in action as well, which made the role even more interesting,” Aashish adds.
