TV celebs on how they are observing Ramzan this year

Owing to the pandemic, in the last two years, celebrations and gatherings were affected. Ramzan, which has always been about praying and breaking fasts together, too, was observed on a smaller scale. However, this year, COVID restrictions have been lifted. TV celebs tell us how they are observing Ramzan this year. Read on...

Eijaz Khan: Finally we all can pray together

Actor and Bigg Boss 14 contestant Eijaz Khan says, “The essence of Ramzan is to pray together. This year finally my brother, father and I could do that. We all could sit and break our fasts together. We couldn’t join our family members for iftar in the last two years, but this year we have been able to enjoy all of that. I am glad we could do it.”

Rakshanda Khan: Potluck Iftar parties are back

Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na actress Rakshanda Khan says, “A society iftar potluck used to take place in my building earlier, which we have resumed this year. Last Saturday, we had one and it was so much fun. There were around 100 people and cooking for so many people can be exhausting, but that’s what this month is also about... it is about feeding people around us. I used to send iftar to orphanages also, but due to COVID, they were not accepting anything. However, things have changed now. Seeing so many people pray together feels nice.”

Sehban Azim: Fasting without COVID restrictions is easy

Spy Bahu actor Sehban Azim says, “Fasting in the last two years was difficult. Many shops were shut, so I couldn’t get much to eat and it was just the basics like bread, milk and eggs. Then last year, I was in a bio-bubble, and again, I couldn’t have a proper Ramzan or Eid. But thankfully, this year, I am with my brother in Mumbai, who takes care of most of the things and fasting at home has a different level of comfort. After two years, I will be able to celebrate Eid with my amma and brothers at home.”

Iqbal Khan: Breaking fasts on the sets is back

Nima Denzongpa actor Iqbal Khan says, “It feels so good to break your fast with other people. On the sets of our show, we have made arrangements, so that all the people present have evening snacks at the time of iftar. It is good to have a community iftar every day, it’s like a mini celebration. This was not possible due to the many COVID restrictions in the last two years.”

Adaa Khan: Went to Mohammed Ali Road and feasted on my favourite food

Naagin actress Adaa Khan says, “My friends and I love going to Mohammed Ali Road to binge on the delicacies available there. Places like these are crowded and amid the COVID-19 scare, we avoided going there in the past two years. But this year, my friends and I went there and feasted on scrumptious delights like kheema samosa and kebabs. It was amazing! The vibe is totally different at this time of the year on Mohammed Ali Road.”

Aasif Sheikh: The raunak of Ramzan is back

Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! actor Asif Sheikh says, “I reside near Yari Road and this place would always be buzzing with food stalls and people during Ramzan. Last two years, it was very dull. We didn’t even buy new clothes, but this year it seems like things are back to normal again. The raunak of Ramzan is back”.

Faizal Khan: I did a Sehri meet-up with my friends

Dharm Yoddha Garud actor Faisal Khan says, “Apart from going to the mosque to pray and having iftar with family and friends, I met my friends for sehri. A few days ago, I went to Yari Road and we started from home at midnight and till the sehri time, we were out eating. I missed doing this in the last two years. But having said that, there is still a little fear in my mind because even though things are better now, the scare hasn’t fully gone.”
