Take a look at the Bengali serials that went off-air after a run of only a couple of months; See photos

The Bengali television industry is currently going through back-to-back shuffling. Earlier, most of the Bengali serials used to have a lifetime of at least a couple of years. The lifetime of the serials was based on their performance and acceptance among the audience. The parameter of ‘success’ of any serial remains the same to date. However, the lifetime of the daily shows has been chopped off drastically. Serials that do not work with the audience are being concluded within a couple of months. Take a look at the Bengali serials that got chopped due to poor performances and consistent low ratings.

Ashtami

The Ritobrota Dey starrer show started its journey in April this year. The Organic Studios produced serial aimed to narrate the story of a girl striving to spread awareness against injustice under the guise of age-old superstitious practices. However, the show failed to capture the hearts of the audience and that reflected on the ratings chart. ‘Ashtami’ closed its curtains in just two months due to consistently low ratings. The first promo of ‘Ashtami’ showed that the female protagonist would become blind due to a fatal accident and she would fight injustice despite her disability. The show wrapped up before it could delve into that track of the story.

Jogomaya

‘Kone Bou’ famed actress Neha Amandeep made a comeback on Bengali TV with this serial and was paired with ‘Khelaghor’ famed actor Syed Arefin. ‘Jogomaya’, launched right around International Women’s Day in March, aimed to narrate the story of the journey of a girl hailing from the slums of Kolkata to the hallowed halls of the changemakers of society. However, the female-centric serial that began with the idea of promoting women empowerment lost its way and failed to find acceptance from the audience and went off-air within a few months for consistent low ratings.

Ke Prothom Kachhe Eshechi

The Mohana Maiti and Sayan Bose starrer Bengali serial ‘Ke Prothom Kachhe Eshechi’ is set to go off-air later in September. The Bengali daily started its journey only three months ago. The Serial premiered on May 27 with an interesting storyline of a single mother, trying to raise her child on her own. The story of ‘Ke Prothom Kachhe Eshechi’ revolved around breaking the societal taboos regarding single mothers and step-parents. Although Madhubani and Mihi’s story initially appealed to the audience, the serial failed to earn a good position on the rating chart. As per insiders, the poor performance on the rating chart is the main reason behind the conclusion of the show.
