The payment issues between the television actors and producers are still fresh. To address the issue the Artists’ Forum held a meeting yesterday (May 1) at 6 pm in presence of actor
Prosenjit Chatterjee, who is the president of the Forum.
Piya Sengupta, the president Eastern India Motion Pictures Association and the representatives of the three leading Bengali General Entertainment Channels were also present in this meeting.
A representative of one of the leading Bengali channels said, “The meeting went on for several hours. The artists shared their concern and mainly complained against the producer of serials ‘Joy Baba Loknath’, ‘Ami Sirajer Begum’ and ‘Mahaprabhu Sree Chaitanya’ citing their payment dues. The Forum has assured to look into the matter and assured that the actors will get their payments soon.”
Those projects ‘Joy Baba Loknath’, ‘Ami Sirajer Begum’, ‘Khonar Bochon’, ‘Maha Prabhu Sree Chaitanya’ were recently handed over to two different production houses of Kolkata after the dispute between the artists and production house. But the actors and technicians are yet to get their dues from the production house that launched the show initially.
The shooting of a number of serials was on halt yesterday (16 April), following the tussle. Due to the incident, the shooting of ‘Khonar Bochon’ was completely stalled while the shoot of the television soap ‘Mahaprabhu Sree Chaitanya’ was partially on. The shoot of ‘Ami Sirajer Begum’ also got affected due to the tussle. The actors made a written complaint against the production house to the Forum latter.
