The Indian state of Kerala is currently facing the wrath of nature, as at least 26 people lose their lives in floods. It is being reported that the most affected districts in the state are Kottayam and Idukki. Travellers may want to take note, and keep themselves updated regarding the weather. It is not advisable to travel to the affected areas in the state, as the rural areas are getting cut off.
The Indian armed forces are already running rescue operations in the state as weather forecasts suggest rain to continue for the coming week.
Kerala, blessed with natural resources, is a much popular tourist destination. However, it is not uncommon for it to get flooded. In 2018, the state witnessed one of the worst floods, when over 483 people had died. Out of the 54 dams in the state, 34 were opened up for the first time in that year.
