Surge in covid cases force Hawaii to impose restrictions

The state of Hawaii is once again imposing travel restrictions as a surge in COVID-19 infections has now been recorded. Travellers going to Hawaii must bear in mind that there are certain rules and regulations to be followed. The state has imposed restrictions on its hospitality sector, as well as gatherings. These restrictions are aimed at reducing the further spread of the virus.
As per reports, Hawaii has ruled that bars and restaurants will have a 50 percent capacity limit henceforth, which is also true for social establishments, and gyms. Outdoor gatherings cannot be allowed for more than 20 people, while indoor gatherings will only be allowed for a maximum of 10 people. Such activities are considered to be high-risk.

The beautiful state of Hawaii had eased restrictions for domestic travel in the month of July when it reached the goal of fully vaccinating 60 percent of its population.
Hawaii has also reopened much of its economy this summer after weeks of reduced covid infection rate. However, the delta variant that has taken the world by storm is a matter of concern, as it spreads easily, and this has led to the latest surge in covid infections.

Moreover, the state is also working to tackle overtourism, with the tourism board in Oahu currently trying to reduce the number of visitors to the island. Also, Kaua’i is implementing parking fees and visitor fees at state parks, while new hotels in south and west Maui have been banned for two years by the Maui County Council.
