As per Sri Lanka's new COVID-19 guidelines, all tourists travelling to the island nation will now be required to carry their vaccination cards, and unvaccinated travellers will be required to carry a negative PCR report, which has been obtained 72 hours prior to arrival in the country.
As reported earlier, Sri Lanka had discontinued the mandatory requirement of producing the COVID-19 vaccination certificate for international travellers on December 7, 2022. The requirement of producing a pre-boarding or on-arrival negative COVID-19 test (PCR/Rapid Antigen Test) (RAT) was also removed.
If reports are to go by, the revised COVID-19 guidelines have been put into place from Friday, following which the Indian High Commission issued a statement advising Indian nationals visiting Sri Lanka to comply with the latest COVID 19 guidelines.
Revealing more about the revised guideline, Sri Lankan authorities have added that it will keep a close watch on any new COVID-19 related developments in consultation with the health authorities.
With regard to tourism, Sri Lankan tourism industry also suffered a huge blow because of adverse travel advisories that were issued by most countries in the context of the unprecedented economic crisis and the street protests last year that led to a change of government in the island nation.
