Baisakhi Mela is a significant festival celebrated in Punjab on April 14 to mark the beginning of the new solar year and harvest season. This festival is celebrated with outdoor celebrations, including music, dancing, and traditional food. The colourful procession of Nagar Kirtan features the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, and is trailed by people singing and dancing to the beat of the dhol. Read less
If you plan to be in Punjab for this festival, get ready to experience a lot of the outdoors because that’s what happens during Baisakhi Mela. During this time, the outdoors, especially the fields, are where everybody gathers in their festive wear along with a lot of music, dance and good food.
If you see people dressed in fun and colourful attires just bursting into dance and songs out in the open, join them! Bhangra, Giddha and Kikli, see them all, learn them all.
A lot of the festival venues will also feature traditional Punjabi handicrafts, clothes, and food.
The Baisakhi Mela is a vibrant celebration of the rich culture and traditions of Punjab and is a festival everyone should experience at least once.
