Varanasi International Airport makes announcement in Sanskrit

For the very first time, Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport has made announcements in Sanskrit. Apparently, Sanskrit is one of the ancient languages of India and also a prominent one. This is like moving one step closer to embracing the rich culture of India.

The airport from now on will make announcements in Sanskrit, Hindi and English. The airport also made all COVID-19 related protocols in Sanskrit along with other languages. The news was shared on Twitter by Varanasi airport official website.

The initiative has been started by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Varanasi Airport director, Aryama Sanyal, said that Varanasi used to be the hub of the Sanskrit language from ancient days and it is one of the best ways of paying respect to the language.
As per reports, an official said, “Such a move will go long way in reviving people’s interest in the ancient language.”

Varanasi is also one of the ancient Indian cities brimming with tales from history. During ancient times, Sanskrit and Tamil were used as common languages. And a number of manuscripts were written in these two languages.

Varanasi is also home to a famous Sanskrit university called Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. People from across the globe come here to learn the language and understand its importance.
