Kerala in monsoons
Kerala's monsoon season, typically spanning from June to September, is a pivotal time for the state's climate and agriculture. Known for its lush green landscapes and backwaters, Kerala experiences heavy rainfall during this period, brought by the southwest monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea. The monsoons play a crucial role in replenishing Kerala's reservoirs, ensuring water supply for agriculture, hydropower generation, and daily consumption.Read more: Delhi: International passengers can now avail 'Check-in & Baggage Drop' service at metro stations
However, the intensity of Kerala's monsoons can lead to occasional challenges such as floods and landslides, especially in hilly regions. Despite these risks, the monsoon season also enhances Kerala's natural beauty, attracting tourists to witness the state's verdant scenery and vibrant culture.
The rain also nurtures Kerala's rich biodiversity, supporting its diverse flora and fauna. Overall, Kerala's monsoons are a vital aspect of its ecosystem, economy, and cultural identity, symbolizing both abundance and the need for careful management of water resources.
