For fans of The Lord of the Rings books and movies, this comes as a great news. Deer Park Heights, the famed shooting location of the movie in New Zealand, has reopened to tourists after almost 11 years! Now that the family has decided to reopen the place for tourists, everyone in the country is quite happy. Deer Park Heights owner Mike Mee told a travel magazine, “It’s such an amazing location and it seems a shame to not share it. We want to welcome visitors to a great fun, good value family day out for those who want to spend time outdoors and with our animals.”
Mee also informed that they are planning to make the experience more family-orientated and will limit access to vehicles with up to seven seats. Minivans, buses and commercial vehicles won’t be allowed. There’s also no access for hikers and cyclists as animals get scared and run away, especially the deer.
He further explained the whole scenario and said that for the past 11 years, the space is being used as a private deer farm. It will continue to be just the same, but now the family has decided to mix business with pleasure.
Now, every day, a limited number of visitors will be allowed to visit the 800 hectare property where the acclaimed fictional movie was shot. To visit the farm, visitors need to pre-book the slot on the official website. Besides, an entrance fee of $55 (INR 4041) will be charged per guest for the whole day.
