The trail, also known as the "Path of Love," runs over 900 metres between the picturesque coastal villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola. It was closed in 2012 after a landslide rendered it unsafe.
The "Via dell'Amore" ticketing system is a new measure introduced to manage the increasing number of visitors to the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Last year, Riomaggiore alone recorded four million visitors. The emphasis is on the importance of sustainable tourism in Cinque Terre. .

The reopening of the "Via dell'Amore" trail marks a significant step in balancing tourism with preservation and local interests. The new system, which includes limited access and guided tours, is designed to ensure that this beloved pathway can be enjoyed sustainably.
